“My husband and I used Apple Moving DFW, the company owned by Will Chilton, to move our household goods this year. Apple Moving in Austin is not affiliated with this company. Apple Moving DFW is owned by Will Chilton and registered with TxDOT under # 000533851B. It is located at 2653 Myrtle Springs in Dallas and is constantly advertised on Live! 105.3. We were originally supposed to have only two movers, but three showed up. You think this is good, right? Wrong! I was there by myself with all three movers moving furniture out of my house and into a truck faster than I could keep eyes on any of them. They shoved everything into the truck without securing the load and off we went on a 30 mile drive. When we got to the new house, again they unloaded stuff and carried it upstairs faster than I could believe. Unfortunately, their poor packaging methods and fast unloading caused severe damage to my furniture, walls, ceiling and doors. I tried resolving the dispute with Apple, and after a month a repair man was sent out. He couldn't fix it all, including a completely destroyed antique and other areas of the house. Because of the $.60/pound limitations clause, they are only offering to pay me $100 to fix the rest. I am pursuing mediation with the Texas Department of Transportation. I was working with the Better Business Bureau until their membership was revoked because they failed to abide by an arbitrator's decision. If this isn't resolved in mediation, I am planning to pursue Small Claims Court, and forward a copy of the claim to Live! 105.3 radio. By the way, I have researched the law on enforcing a limition on liability clause in a contract, and I think the one in my contract is not enforceable, so I plan to pursue this, as well. This whole process has been awful, and the way Apple Moving has handled this situation is disgusting.”
